Central University is the biggest religious universities associated with the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Accra. Students come from several religious traditions including Islam.
In January 2016, the University College received the Presidential Charter to become an autonomous and a fully-fledged university. As a private tertiary institution, the Central University was founded to raise generational leaders to transform Africa. CU started off as a pastoral training institute in 1988. Ten years after, it housed the Central Business School inspired by its founder’s believe in entrepreneurship. It was quickly re-named to reflect its new status as a liberal arts pursuing institution. The, main campus is located off the Accra-Aflao road in a small town called Mitso in the Greater Accra Region. In a residential neighborhood five miles from the heart of Accra is their second campus, in Kaneshi. Central University has six (6) faculties/schools, namely the School of Theology and Missions (STM), Central Business School (CBS), the School of Architecture and Sciences (SAS), School of Research & Graduate Studies (SRGS), Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), Faculty of Law(FOL)and the School of Pharmacy(SOP).
