The course prepares students to create and lead innovative and visually exciting digital media projects that engage users and audiences. The new digital economy needs professionals who are able to master the latest media strategies, understand and take advantage of the power of storytelling, and align a compelling creative viewpoint to a brand's communication needs. Students have the opportunity to develop their creative design abilities but also equip themselves with marketing and branding skills and knowledge essential for a career in the competitive market place.
This programme is widely taught as full time, part-time, distance or sandwich at most levels.
Subject Specific Requirements
Prior qualification in Visual Arts is an advantage and may be required.
WASSCE Entry requirements
Core: Credit passes (C6) in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science & Social Studies Electives: Credit passes (C6) in any three elective subjects
American High School Grade 12
An applicant for admission to a degree programme in Ghana must have a Final Grade Point of at least 3.0 *Admissions will be to Level 100.
GCE (Cambridge) – ‘A’ and ‘O’ Levels
Applicants must have three relevant subjects at the Cambridge ‘A’ Levels. In addition, they must have at least five (5) passes including English and Mathematics at the Cambridge ‘O’ Level. *Most universities in Ghana welcome applications from students who follow the IB Diploma Programme and meet the following college requirements. Admissions will be to Level 100.
International Baccalaureate
Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in any Three (3) HL subjects. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics (SL).
Mature
• Must be, at least, 25 years by (*certain date). • Should have a minimum of GCE/SSSCE/WASSCE Certificate or an equivalent qualification. • Must pass a University Entrance Exam or aptitude test in Math and English.
Postgraduate
Masters (MPhil, MA, MSc) • A good first degree (at least a second class lower division) in a relevant field of study at any recognised University.
PhD
Normally a Master’s degree with research in the relevant field will be required for admission to this programme. Where an applicant is judged to have any deficiency, this may be remedied by requiring the applicant to make up as appropriate either by course work or mini-project or both.
Students are assessed by any combination of three assessment methods: quizzes/interim/mid-semester tests, and project works completed throughout the course; and written examinations at the end of each course. The exact mix of these methods differs between universities, subject areas, years of study and individual courses. Most degree projects are typically assessed on the basis of a written dissertation during your final year of study.
